Aureon Architecture & Core Concepts
Understand the foundational terminology and architecture behind the Aureon platform.
1. What is a Project?
A Project is the core organizing unit in Aureon. It represents a single application or workload and manages its source repository, build settings, environment variables, domains, and deployment history.
2. What is a Deployment?
A Deployment is an immutable release snapshot resulting from building a specific Git commit. Each deployment receives a unique deployment ID and URL.
3. What is a Preview Deployment?
A Preview Deployment is an isolated release created automatically for pull requests or feature branches. It allows developers to test features on live URLs before merging into production.
4. What is a Production Deployment?
A Production Deployment is the active build serving live traffic on your custom domain and production URLs.
5. What is a Container?
A Container is a lightweight, isolated execution environment where your application code runs and listens for incoming web requests.
6. What are Build Minutes?
Build Minutes are the cumulative compilation time consumed by build servers when compiling your source code during deployments.
7. What are Runtime Hours?
Runtime Hours represent the active execution time consumed by running application containers during a billing cycle.
8. What is Storage?
Storage refers to persistent disk space allocated for your deployment bundles, assets, and build caches.
9. What are Edge Requests?
Edge Requests are HTTP/HTTPS requests processed and routed by Aureon edge proxy servers before reaching application containers.
10. What is a Custom Domain?
A Custom Domain is your own web address (e.g. yourbrand.com) routed to your Aureon deployment through DNS records.
11. What are Environment Variables?
Environment Variables are secure, externalized key-value pairs injected into your build and runtime environments.
