Getting Started with Aureon

Learn the basics of Aureon and deploy your first application from repository to production.

1. What is Aureon?

Aureon is a developer-first hosting and cloud infrastructure platform designed to make application deployment simple, predictable, and automated. With Aureon, developers connect their code repository, and the platform automatically handles framework detection, dependency installation, container builds, secure HTTPS provisioning, and global edge routing.

Unlike traditional hosting providers that require complex server administration, Aureon provides a managed developer console where you focus entirely on building your application.

2. Creating Your Aureon Account

To start deploying on Aureon, create your account using our standard authentication flow:

  1. Navigate to the Aureon console or click Sign Up on any page.
  2. Authenticate using your email and password or your connected GitHub developer account.
  3. Verify your email address if prompted.
  4. Once authenticated, you will immediately land in your personal developer dashboard ready to create your first project.
Note: We recommend connecting your GitHub account during sign-up to make importing repositories effortless.

3. Understanding the Aureon Dashboard

The Aureon console is structured around key operational sections:

  • Projects Overview: View all active workloads, live URLs, production status, and recent deployment activity.
  • Deployment Stream: Real-time status of ongoing and past builds with instant access to build and runtime logs.
  • Resource Usage: Live metrics tracking monthly deployments, build minutes, storage, edge requests, and active container runtime hours.
  • Account & Billing Settings: Manage developer credentials, personal API access, plan tiers, and payment methods.

4. Creating Your First Project

Creating a project connects a Git repository to Aureon's deployment pipeline:

  1. Click New Project in the top-right corner of your dashboard.
  2. Select your Git provider (GitHub) and choose the repository you want to host.
  3. Select your production branch (e.g. main or master).
  4. Review the automatically detected framework settings and build command.
  5. Add any required environment variables (e.g. DATABASE_URL, API_KEY).
  6. Click Deploy Project to trigger your initial build.

5. Connecting a Git Repository

Aureon connects directly to your Git provider using secure OAuth authorization. When connecting a repository:

  • You can grant access to all repositories or select specific repositories.
  • Aureon listens for Git push webhooks to automate continuous deployments.
  • Every commit pushed to your primary branch triggers a production deployment.
  • Commits pushed to other branches or pull requests trigger isolated preview deployments.

6. Deploying Your First Application

Once you click Deploy, Aureon performs the following automated steps:

  1. Cloning source: Clones the specified branch commit securely.
  2. Detecting framework: Inspects configuration files (e.g. package.json) to detect Next.js, React, Node.js, Vite, or static websites.
  3. Installing dependencies: Executes npm install, yarn install, or pnpm install using cached modules for speed.
  4. Running build command: Executes your project's build script (e.g. npm run build).
  5. Container provisioning: Packages the compiled output into an isolated runtime container or deploys static assets to global edge nodes.
  6. Assignment of URL: Generates an instant, working .aureon.app URL secured with HTTPS.

7. Your First Production Deployment

When your initial deployment succeeds, your application is live! From the project overview, you can:

  • Visit the live URL to verify functionality.
  • Connect a custom domain (e.g. yourdomain.com) under Project Settings → Domains.
  • Review runtime logs to ensure database connections and API routes are healthy.
